DJI Avata? DJI FPV Mini? Whatever its called, here’s what you need to know
DJI has long stood tall as one of the biggest boys in the world of drones, and their upcoming DJI FPV Mini, codenamed the DJI Avata seems to be fast approaching an official announcement.
For now, we’ve got leaks, rumors, hints, and just a bit of speculation to collate and add to. So, let’s see what we might be getting when the DJI FPV Mini finally touches down.
DJI Avata release date prediction
By most people’s accounts, the DJI FPV Mini release date seems like it’ll be within 2022. DealsDrone, a prolific leaker within the drones and FPV community seems fairly sure of an August release date, however, we’ve also heard July, which is over, so it seems up in the air (lol)
DJI Avata specs
Of course, DJI is still keeping schtum about the existence of the drone in general, much less leaking specs, but a combination of supposed imagery, rumors, and reliable leakers has allowed us to put together a pretty believable picture of what the DJI Avata might have under the hood.
Our best current guess at the specs comes from DealsDrone once again. They seem pretty confident about what they’re claiming, and the community seems to trust them.

These specs put the DJI Avata In a very strong position. The weight and improved battery life are the most important things here, additionally, the glasses/goggles can connect to your phone or other mobile devices, which will improve the overall usability of the package.
We’re not currently sure what ‘can fly indoors’ means. We assume it refers to the size actually allowing indoor flight without destroying everything you love, but it could be something more.
DJI Avata design
We’ve also seen images of the DJI Avata start to emerge from the woodwork. To be honest, it’s looking pretty impressive too, with a super compact form factor that *almost* fits in the palm of your hand.
