Dead Island 2 was announced a long, long time ago. The game was originally announced in 2014, but do we know anything at all about the Dead Island 2 Release Date?
What do we know about the game itself? We take a look and find out.
Dead Island 2 Release Date
As far as a release date for Dead Island 2 goes, we currently know literally nothing. The game was first revealed in 2014 at Sony’s E3 presentation before gameplay footage was shown at Gamescom 2014. The game then changed developers three different times, going from Yager Development to Sumo Digital to Dambuster Studios.
We don’t know what’s happening with the game right now at all. We’re unsure if the game still has the same developer if the game is planned for a release soon or if it even still exists for sure. A version of the game that was developed by Yager in 2015 was leaked in 2020, but that’s the extent of it so far.
The closest we’ve came to a potential re-reveal so far is a trailer by Goat Simulator 3 that directly parodied the original reveal trailer for Dead Island 2.
Dead Island 2 Potential Re-Reveal
It seems that people who have been anticipating the game are in luck, according to Tom Henderson. Henderson states that:
“Sources with knowledge of the plans surrounding Dead Island 2 have said that the game is likely to be re-revealed later this year. Although an exact reveal date of Dead Island 2 was not provided, the same source had said that the reveal at The Game Awards later this year would ‘make a lot of sense. It’s understood that the next installment will have a big focus on cooperative play, with several play sessions at Damnbuster focusing on the feature. In addition, it’s also been suggested that the cast is completely new with 5-6 new characters coming to the game.”

Hopefully, we’ll have a lot more information on the game later this year, and the game isn’t a complete disaster due to the length of development that it’s had.
