FIFA 23 is getting close – and we’ve now had our first cover star reveal – and it’s a historic moment!
Sam Kerr is set to be the first female cover star in FIFA history. The Australian will be joining Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, who is set to make his third appearance as the cover star, on the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 23.
Although not confirmed, it seems likely that Mbappé will continue to feature on all versions of FIFA 23.
As it stands it seems likely he will be the Cover Star of the franchise for a while, even once it changes name to EA Sports FC.
In an exciting move the franchise and the game, Kerr featuring on the front is huge. It demonstrates just how popular the women’s game has become around Europe, after always being popular in the USA.
It’s also further confirmation of the new leagues that are set to be added to the game, with many women’s sides being one of the big additions for this year’s FIFA 23.
The Cover Star on FIFA is often one of the highest rated players in the game and Sam Kerr’s appearance on the front is an indication of that. If she isn’t the highest rated, the Chelsea and Australia forward will definitely be up there in the game.
More information will follow in an announcement on the 20th of July.

Our previous FIFA 23 cover star prediction – Erling Haaland
We still think there is a strong chance we might see Erling Haaland feature on the FIFA 23 game, but it’s highly likely Mbappe could well sneak in there (as we state below).
Still, it would be great to see the Norwegian on the cover – and it would make a change, especially now Mbappe is on the Ultimate edition.
It would be deserved, as the 21-year-old has been incredible last season. The former Dortmund ace, who now resides at Man City, was lethal in front of goal – netting 22 times and securing seven assists in the Bundesliga.

His rapid, rangy stride will likely be feared in the Premier League, arguably making City the ‘complete’ attacking force – linking well with Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden.
Could we see a group of legendary players feature on the cover? A completely new design entirely for the final edition? We won’t know until announced but going off previous versions of FIFA, Haaland is a safe bet.
Erling Haaland signed for Manchester City after activating his €60m (£51.2m) release clause, making him one of the best signings this summer.

What about Benzema? De Bruyne? The GOATS Ronaldo and Messi? These are all viable options, so it is anyone’s guess.
Could Kylian Kylian Mbappé make it three FIFA Covers in a row?

FIFA 22 cover star – Kylian Mbappé
The French international needs little to no introduction, he is undoubtedly one of the best forwards in the world, so it was unsurprising to see him take the cover of FIFA 22.
Mbappé, who was on the last two covers, would be the first player in the game’s history to have the FIFA cover to himself three years in a row.
However, there could be stiff competition in the form of both Haaland and PSG’s Lionel Messi. The latter has been involved with Konami, and has graced many of the E-football games – even despite moving to PSG (The Argentine wore a Konami branded shirt on the main marketing material).
Bondy’s prodigal son returns to the cover of FIFA 22 after another record-breaking season at Paris Saint-Germain. Mbappé ended last season as the youngest player in Ligue 1 history to win the top scorer award three times in a row. That’s our cover star.
Haaland was the hottest sale of the summer, furthermore, an absolute beast all season, so he gets our vote as the FIFA 23 cover star.
