Mmm. Choc chip cookies never get old. The first chocolate chip cookie originated in the USA around 1938, when Ruth Graves Wakefield and Sue Brides chopped up a Nestlé chocolate bar and added it to their cookie dough. They both worked at the Toll House inn (which is how Toll House cookie dough got its name) and wanted to serve up something new to their customers. From there, the choc chip cookie took off and remains today the most popular household cookie. The classic dessert can be served with ice cream, milk, or on its own.
